Jamais vu

Having just returned from a family reunion on the central coast. A core group of about 30 first and second cousins with assorted children, mates and partners that I haven't seen in years. We still gather at the old family residence, on the bay. The familiarity of the faces and voices is slightly disturbed, but undeniable. Fondness beams from the babies' faces, unspoken greetings from dead ancestors. Driving back home I always thinks it's interesting, how the landscape of the same highway looks so different when you're going in the opposite direction. Did I miss something?
